Custom Milling

Custom Milling for Your Lumber Needs

We’re proud to be one of the few companies in San Diego that have a custom mill. For contractors, architects, and commercial business owners, we now provide milling and resaw services. Our saws are designed to cut used wood boards and beams lengthwise, and our custom blades can cut everything that you might need - even cutting your lumber down to the thickness of a sheet of paper. If you love the reclaimed look, but prefer fresh lumber, we can mill that for you as well.

Our Custom Milling Services

We offer a wide range of milling services. That means we can cut wood down to a specific size, create corbels for patios, shelves, roofs, or mantels, shape circles for tabletops, mill tongue and groove or shiplap treatments for siding, and just about anything else you can think of.

01.

Resurfacing

Is your wood looking a little worn? You don’t have to settle for wear and tear as the standard. Let us help you breathe life back into your pieces by resurfacing them. This involves grinding down uneven boards, reinforcing wood planks with new nails, and refinishing the top layer. Resurface your wood into a show-stopper.

02.

Tongue & Groove

We can also mill tongue and groove to seam boards together. Tongue and groove is a method of fitting planks together edge to edge to interlock. It is primarily used in high quality boards in flooring and panelling. If the material is thicker, several tongue and grooves may be required.

03.

Shiplap

Shiplap is characterized by its long planks, mounted horizontally with a minimal gap in between. Early shipbuilding methods used a form of shiplap to build the hulls of ships to make them watertight. Today, the trend is alive and well, and many love the functionality and appearance of shiplap-style boards.

04.

Crown Molding

Crown molding gives your wall that finishing touch to help bring the entire room together in a sophisticated way. Our state-of-the-art saw can cut the wooden crown molding of your dreams, whether it’s a simple style or a more intricate, decorative option. Give your walls the crown molding they deserve.

05.

Custom Corbels

A custom corbel might just be the perfect way to add a bit of elegance to your space. An architectural element used to support the weight of shelves, counters, doorways, and roofs, corbels are most often made from wood, stone, or plaster. From corbels for shelves, patios, and mantels, we can create a custom design that will elevate the entire room.

06.

Custom Patterns

Have a unique pattern idea? We can create any specific type of pattern with a variety of different woods, including mahogany, beech, gum, bass, loblolly pine, ash, cedar, ponderosa pine, spalted maple, and douglas fir. The sky’s the limit when it comes to your vision.

Our Saw Details

Our saw system is capable of cutting up to 12 inches wide, and our mill can cut down to 1/8 inch thick all the way up to 10 inches thick. Our 12” horizontal resaw bandsaw has a massive 20 HP motor, 28” diameter wheels, and 168” blade that can resaw through some of the toughest species of wood.

Reviews of Reclaimed Wood San Diego

“I am so glad I found Reclaimed Woods San Diego over year + ago. I had them make me doors, pillars, & panels for my home out of their reclaimed wood used from old barns. Also I used various pieces to trim my window sills, refaced my bar & laid wood in recessed area of my kitchen. Their staff was always pleasant to deal with & the quality of their work & the barn wood was excellent. Highly recommend this place.”

Linda Kelley

“We were referred to them by our decorator and boy did they deliver. They helped us pick out an old Douglas fir beam which they transformed into a beautiful mantle. Their prices are competitive and the process was fast and reliable. They even worked with us to narrow down the perfect stain color that compliments our home. Well done guys!!”

Matt E.

“I purchased two different types of wood from this company. The owner took the time to walk me through the yard and explain different materials. If you need good quality reclaimed wood, this is your place. I will be using them all the time!”

Tosh S.

“Love this place! John Thompson has an eye for rustic design like no other. Who else would get so excited about wood that has a history. If you are a creative with an eye for designing your own furniture or flooring--this is the place to start!”

Lynn Milke

“Showed up at this place with a very vague plan to make a planter. Justin was so kind and patient with us. He figured out how much wood and cut each piece himself. Came home and we had it together within an hour.”
